Eyelids (Blepharoplasty)

What is Blepharoplasty?

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids to reduce puffiness, sagging, and under-eye bags. It can improve both appearance and vision when drooping eyelids obstruct sight. The procedure is often performed on both lids for a more balanced, youthful look.

How It Works

Blepharoplasty is typically performed under local or twilight anesthesia. For the upper lids, an incision is made along the natural crease to remove or reposition tissue. Lower eyelid surgery may involve an internal (scarless) or external incision depending on whether skin tightening is needed.

Recovery and Aftercare

Most patients experience mild swelling and minimal discomfort, with recovery starting immediately. Sutures are usually removed within a week, and most people feel presentable after 7–10 days. Following aftercare instructions and avoiding strenuous activity helps ensure smooth healing and natural-looking results.
